Post n°8: The last blog of the semester

Well, my first semester of the university has finished, I felt it very fast, I and learned new things. It has been a nice new experience. Meet new people, study things that you like, and know the famous university atmosphere. In the English subject, I think that I had to speak English always, situation that in the school, not often I did it. I feel that writing skill improved, because I must be careful every time with the grammar mistakes, etc. I had never had the chance to upload a blog to internet, it was a funny experience. But, not everything was beauty this semester in the subject, I think that my marks this semester was a little low, I don’t know why. So, my aim to the next semester will be improve my marks. I would like to include in the subject, the chance of make a video with the classmates explaining about a topic, speaking English obviously, or any funny activity that help us to learn about the language. Post n°7: A website that save my life

In every day, we need things to save our life. Today I will talk about a website that saves my life whenever I have test in the university. Teoria.com is a website that has contents about music theory. It is a website where you can find things about music theory, like music intervals, scales, musical armor, etc. It also contains musical tutorials where you can train your musical reading and the ear with rhythmic dictations, musical notes dictations, etc. I use that website every time I don’t have things to do and when I study for a test, because I am training my ear and then the test aren’t so hard. I like it because it´s a complete music website, in English and Spanish. Where you can learn about music and practice about music that is very important, because the music is not all theory and knowledge, also is know how to play a music score, and the final sound. Post n°6: Latin-American musicians and creators

Do you know any Latin American musician? I will talking about a Latin American musician, Eduardo “Gato” Alquinta Gato Alquinta was a musician of a Chilean band called “Los Jaivas”, he played the electric guitar mainly and other instruments, and he also was the lead singer. Gato was born at 1945 in Valparaiso, Chile, was a very important musician in Chile, founder member of “The High Bass” on 1963, in that band,  he played the guitar and sang. Years later in 1971 the band changed its name and was called “Los Jaivas” is a band that plays Latin-American fusion music until this days. The band mixes the latin American music with instruments like the drum, the bass guitar, the electric guitar, synthesizers, etc. in the first years of Los Jaivas, the sound of the music that Gato composed, was influenced by the “hippie sound”. Post n°5: My very special photo

  This picture was taken in my ex-school in 2016 by my mother, this picture is meaningful for me, because, it was the last concert of the year in the orchestra that I participate. It was an amazing concert, with Christmas´s songs, and the collaboration of a chorus of a lyceum, it was the “Christmas concert of 2016”. The experience was a lot of fun. But it isn´t the main reason of the meaning of the picture. Well, the teacher that appears in the picture was my flute teacher for seven years, her name is Ariela Medina. The picture was taken once the concert was over. At the moment, everything was OK, but the sad part was that, the following day of the concert, the teacher was fired, I knew that situation hours after. So, that day I was very sad, I had lost the best teacher. So, the picture is the last photo that I have with her like her student. But she, will ever be, my best teacher in the world.

Pos nº4: Musical projects

Hi everybody At the moment, my musical project, is forming part of an orchestra in mi ex-school, I’m flautist in that orchestra, and I had been working in that project since 2015. In the past, my most important musical project in the school, was forming part in a musical band of Latin-American music, in that band, I played many instruments, but mainly, I played the electric guitar, and also I was the singer in some songs, but in a period I was the lead singer. Sometimes, with the band, we went out of the school to many places to show our work, I think that the applause of the people, was the most important reward, because it encouraged us to continue that project. The difficulties of the band, were move the instrument and the auxiliary machines like the guitar pedal, amplifiers, etc., because it were heavy and we didn’t have a car, and also, we didn’t have drum. Post n°3: My favorite piece of technology

My favorite piece of technology is my multi-effects guitar pedal, I got it for a Christmas, so, I don’t know how expensive it was. I love this guitar pedal because it has a variety of sounds like wah sound, flanger, distortion, clean guitar, reverb, phaser, etc., I use very often the distortion effect, because I mainly listen to rock and metal music, so, I like to play those rock/metal songs. I use the guitar pedal by connecting it to an amplifier and a guitar, because, if I don’t connect it, it will not sound, I connect a cable to a guitar, and other cable to the amplifier. I use it every time I could, because much times I had no time to practice guitar, but in holidays use it, sometimes, every day, and also when I play in a show. I think that the guitar pedal has a nice quality sound, and very nice effects, is very lightweight and very well to begin a guitarist life.

Post n°2: My expectations of this tern/ Things that I do

Well, this term I’m studying music theory in Universidad de Chile. This is my first term in the university, it’s very interesting, because I will learn new thigs about music, how it is made, etc. also I will learn new instruments. This term I have seven subjects: musical language, guitar workshop, piano workshop, musical creation and practice, musical investigation, history of art and English. My favorite subject is musical creation and practice, because I ever plays an instrument, and it’s very funny. I’m really excited about this term because I will learn piano, at the moment I’d play little melodies in piano, but I never read piano notes, also I will learn piano technics, like the position in the seat, how to put the fingers in the piano keys etc.    In my free time I practice swimming, in a pool of the university, I practice one hour, two times a week, it helps me to relax, and have a less sedentary life.
